Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional and dynamic student for a Mechanical Engineering Intern position in Research & Development Protection Systems.
The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.
In this position, you will help design, analyze, and test parts that may go into power system electronic devices.

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following:
Provide support to mechanical engineering staff as needed:
- Functional/qualification test plans, testing, and test reports
- Tolerance, return on investment (ROI), thermal, and structural analysis
- Design of plastic, machined, sheet metal, and die cast parts
Update SolidWorks models and drawings.
Data entry of technical information into company databases (MS Office Suite, SolidWorks, Ansys).
Follow mechanical development and quality assurance procedures.
Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
This job might be for you if:
Currently in pursuit of BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with two years engineering education completed.
You are able to conduct defined testing procedures.
You have strong problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of MS Office Applications or equivalent
You have at least one year SolidWorks Experience (or equivalent CAD software).
You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
You are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
You are able to work cooperatively in a team environment.
You have background check results satisfactory to SEL.
You have negative drug test result(s).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience filing engineering documentation
Finite element analysis (Ansys or equivalent) experience a plus

Pay Range Data
($17.
00 - $26.
50 per hour)* Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate).
