*Basic Function*
Under the direction of the Street Supervisor or a Street Maintenance Worker, perform duties in the maintenance and repair of City streets, signs, and traffic control systems; operate a variety of equipment including some heavy duty and hand and power tools.
Seasonal level is an entry level position that performs assigned duties under direct supervision.
Assist with the full range of construction, maintenance, and repair duties in the Streets Division.

· The incumbent shall work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
· The incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and members of the public.
· As directed performs duties in the construction, maintenance, and repair of City infrastructure including: streets, alleys, sidewalks, structures, sidewalks, curbs, ADA ramps, street lights, traffic signals, fiber optic networks, street signs, pavement markings, mowing, etc.
· Assist in sweeping of City streets, parking lots, and alleys.
· Assist with pruning street trees and shrubs in sight triangles and rights of way throughout the City.
· Assist in the operation of a variety of equipment used in street, fiber, and storm maintenance.
· Conduct inventories of stock items.
· Assist with the installation and maintenance of paint and thermal plastic pavement markings to current MUTCD standards.
· Perform basic tasks with snow removal utilizing light equipment.
· Under direct supervision of a Traffic Control Technician, install traffic control for work zones and special events.
Required Licenses and Certifications
· Valid Driver’s License preferred

· Ability to develop knowledge of street system construction, maintenance, and repair methods and equipment
· Ability to follow Federal Highway Administration Manual on Uniform Control Devices (MUTCD)
· Ability to read maps comprehend geography as related to the City's systems
· Ability to interact with members of the public respectfully at all times
· Ability to research and comprehend relevant industry regulations and standards
· Ability to work effectively with coworkers
· Basic computer processing skills and knowledge of or ability to acquire relevant computer skills related to the industry
· Basic reading, writing, math, computer, and recordkeeping abilities
· Ability to learn the operation of both light and heavy equipment
· Ability to adhere to health and safety practices
· Ability to adhere to laws, rules, regulation and policies
· Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, maintain routine records, and work cooperatively with others
· Ability to observe legal and defensive driving practices
· Basic computer processing skills and knowledge of or ability to acquire relevant computer skills related to the industry
