Program Assistant Available Title(s): 107M-YN_CS_NPS - Program Assistant Business Title: Program Assistant Employee Type: Classified Time Type: Full time Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Program Assistant is the first point of contact for the Academic Success and Career Center (ASCC) and responsible for representing departmental services to students, faculty and staff, and the public.
Under general supervision, independently performs a variety of customer service activities and complex clerical projects in support of departmental program services.
Provide students, faculty and staff, program participants and/or the public with information and interpretation of policies and activities related to academic advising, program plan changes, major and minor certification updates, academic tutoring, and academic reinstatement.
Duties include supporting day-to-day front desk operations including appointment scheduling, responding to phone and email inquiries and frequent requests for information; establishing manual and electronic recordkeeping/filing systems and/or data base files, and greeting/referring department clientele to appropriate services.
This position provides work direction to student staff and/or interns.
Required Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated customer service experience with good interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work and think independently, and demonstrate good decision-making capabilities.
Demonstrated organizational skills Demonstrated ability to multi-task and complete assignments with frequent interruptions.
Understanding of MyWSU functions and demonstrated ability to work within MyWSU.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
