As a Power System Protection Engineer in Engineering Services, you’ll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.
As a Protection Engineer, a typical day might include the following: Possessing, understanding and applying the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of power system protection and related SEL products.
Training and assisting customers with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems.
Developing technical proposals for customers.
Protection scheme testing and troubleshooting.
Completing and implementing assigned work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.
Participating in the preparation of functional design specifications.
Preparing and maintaining detailed design documents, reports, checklists, test reports, and deliverables.
Following and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
This job might be for you if: You have a B.
S.
in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline You have 5+ years relevant application experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and protection area practices and philosophies (System protection, protective relays and their applications, settings, and testing) You have knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration and/or automation and communications applications.
You have working knowledge of electric power system design, studies, information and communication technology and protective relay applications You are willing to travel about 25% You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills You like to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Location Pullman, WA - SEL’s corporate office is located in Eastern Washington where you'll enjoy an unmatched quality of life.

Pay Range Data Pullman & Spokane, WA: Project Engineer I $69,100 - $108,100.
Project Engineer II $79,400 - $124,000.
Lynnwood, WA: Project Engineer I $79,500 - $124,300.
Project Engineer II $91,400 - $142,600 Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
The pay range may differ in other locations based on cost of labor.
We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
