Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Software Engineer in our Manufacturing Operations group.
As a member of SEL’s Manufacturing Automation Development team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to: Develop automation applications using C#, Typescript, Python.
Design and build fault tolerant, high uptime distributed systems.
Build robust CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
Interface with complex manufacturing information systems and equipment.
Build dashboards and data analytics tools that deliver real business insights for internal stakeholders.
Champion the adoption of new technologies and industry best practices.
The software this engineer develops will immediately impact the efficiency of factory operations and guarantee the quality of SEL products.
Our team's customers are all internal to SEL, which places us in a unique position to interact directly with the people using our software on a day-to-day basis, create short feedback loops, and work with them to design solutions that best fit their needs.

S.
in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar equivalent Typically 2+ years experience in one or more of the following areas: - Experience building desktop applications in C-like languages (C#, C, C++, Java, etc.
): - Object oriented design - Object oriented languages (C++, C#, Python, Java, etc) Web application development including: - Back end webservices (ASP.
NET, C#, Java, etc) - Front end web page design (React JS, HTML, Blazor, etc) Experience building asynchronous distributed systems: - C#, C, C++, Python - Other scripting languages Experience with using containers: - Docker - Kubernetes (K8s/K3s) Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment Background check results satisfactory to SEL Negative drug test result(s) Preferred Qualifications: Experience with manufacturing and automation processes Knowledge of modern communications protocols (CFX, AMQP, MQTT) Experience with Azure cloud technologies.

Pay Range Data: We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
The salary range for this position is between $69,100 and $108,100 annually.
