Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Time Type: Full time Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties: This position will apply advanced scientific knowledge to manage multiple highly complex and advanced research projects within the Institute for Research and Education to Advance Community Health (IREACH).
This position will collaborate with IREACH's Founding Director and Co-Directors in the preparation of grant proposals and sub-award proposals, lead or support project management of grant and sub-award proposal development, prepare WSU sponsor related application forms including writing and editing supplemental materials for grant proposals, communicate with partner institutions in multi-project submissions, track project activities and deliverables, convene calls and meetings, ensure website entries are up-to-date and accurate reflect project activities, and develop and manage project budgets.
This position will prepare progress reports/proposals, arrange and attend meetings, create agendas, follow up on meeting action items, and act as a liaison between the project teams, research partners, and funding agencies.
This position, in collaboration with the Senior Research Program & Operations Manager, will also monitor assigned research studies and data collection methods, implement strategies for data management and recruitment, manage multiple data collection efforts that may include collaborating agencies or institutions, identify or collaborate in the development of research questions, and objectives, and collaborate with the Founding Director and Co-Directors in the writing, editing, and preparing of grant proposals.
Duties and Responsibilities: 35% Research Operations 35% Budget and Grant Management 15% Grant Writing 10% University and Partner Relations 5% Other Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area.
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Requirements: Demonstrated experience drafting, composing, and/or editing materials related to grant proposals and grant writing.
Knowledge of NIH and federal grant applications and project implementations.
Substantial project management experience.
Excellent communication and writing skills for both lay and scientific audiences.
Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated proposal writing experience with federal and non-federal sponsors.
Demonstrated experience with subcontracts/subawards.
Familiarity with major federal and non-federal sponsors that support university research and scholarship.
Experience with newsletter management programs and bibliographic software.
Experience editing in a scientific or technical field.
Experience in graphic design and relevant imaging and publication software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Visio, or Microsoft Publisher.
Experience working with American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities.
Demonstrated experience providing research program administration focused on public health.
Experience managing the life-cycle of projects from concept development through applications, start-up, data collection and implementation, to publication and closeout.
Proficiency in WordPress or comparable web editing software.
